Rough neck shaping

Did some more shaping on the neck. First I had to draw the rough outline on the neck. At the nut it will be about 2.1 cm thick and at the body 2.5 cm:

The piece behind the heel which will hover above the body, will be about 1 cm thick. since it can be accessed easily I cut it down with a handsaw:

The neck has to be placed in a slight angle to the body. With a bevel gauge I transfered the angle of the body to the neck. This will be just an indication. It will be corrected when the neck is really glued to the body:

With a saw I cut the heel to its angle.

Now the mid section of the neck had to be taking care of. It is not accessible with a saw so I used a router to remove small layer at a time. We made a small jig to place the router on:

I could not reach all spots with the router but it left a big enough space for a saw to come in so I finished up with that. I also removed some material at the head stock so overall the neck starts to get its rough shape. The heel has a bit of its curved shape already also:
